Doing business as a healthcare professional is scary sometimes

When I started thinking of opening my own practice I was struck by how little I really knew of the private healthcare sector. It quickly became clear that we don’t really get taught anything about doing business in a private practice.

It kept bugging me: this lack of knowledge my be preventing any number of healthcare professionals from starting up their own practices – creating a barrier to expanding healthcare services.

The Health Professional is about sharing info for healthcare professionals that are interested in starting their own practices or are interested in the business aspects of healthcare. The idea is to help those that help others – be it in the private or public sectors – and in so doing help to expand health services.

Disclaimer: I’m not some great business professional – I’m a healthcare professional (physio) that has a postgrad diploma in business administration and I’m hoping to finish up my MBA this year with a research focus on the future of the health system in SA. The posts on this site are just my personal opinions; it’s the kind of info I would give a friend if they asked me for help.
