The Health Professional is an idea dedicated to expanding healthcare access by empowering those in positions to help others. 

I started gathering information on starting my private physiotherapy practice in my first year post-community service but I was quickly disappointed by the lack of clear guidelines and expertise on the subject. Since then I have started my own after hours practice and worked for four other practices (simultaneously at one point, though, thankfully, not anymore). I recently completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration which gives a broad overview of management, marketing, financial accounting, management accounting, human resource management, operational management and strategic management. I’m also currently enrolled for a Masters Of Business Administration at Nelson Mandela University Business School. And I hope to use these tools to empower other health professionals to start their own practices or improve the running of their current practices or departments. If just one practice (regardless of profession) gets to see one more patient, or one area gets access to a health professional that would otherwise not have had the means to open a practice, then The Health Professional would have done what it is supposed to. But hopefully it can do so much more.

The Health Professional is definitely not me as a person, it is an idea, a belief that any of us, equipped with the right knowledge and attitude, can change the lives of those we care for.
